For several years, I ran the blog BeetsPerMinute.com — a health and fitness blog. (RIP).

Whatever the reason — so glad you’re here. And you’re probably curious what Erin’ s Life Bites is about. This blog is a collection of thoughts from both my professional and personal life experiences. My experiences range from the ridiculous to every day and everything in between. I have never done thigs the way that others have and for better or worse, I’ve learned a thing or two along the way.
Erin’s Life Bites is for anyone who hasn’t always followed the conventional path in life. It’s a place for people — who like me — have trouble finding where they ‘fit in’ but mostly about how doing the unconventional things or thinking differently can be what makes life’s journey great. Life is full of teachable moments, but only if we try to learn from every experience and person along the way.
BeetsPerMinute was a blog I started when I had first started working as a personal trainer and fitness instructor. I was pretty gung-ho about working out then – and don’t get me wrong, I am still really into workouts and eating good things, and I still work as a coach, but now I focus more on living a happy and sustainable life.
SO, WHAT DO I DO?
I help people make behavioural changes around their health. I am a qualified acupressure and massage therapist, a certified nutritional therapist, and a professionally trained coach in the areas of cognitive behavioural therapy for eating disorders and addiction. In 2019, I began professional training in the fields of energy healing and meridian therapy. I love learning and, believe me when I say, that is not something I ever thought I would say about myself.
When it comes to issues like weight and fitness, what works for one of us may not work for many of us and what works for many of you may not work for me and so on, but it took me several years of cookie-cutter’ing myself into the world of wellness (and wellness blogging) to realise the nuance and complexity of lifestyle changes are a very personal experience.
Not everybody benefits from abstaining from entire food groups and not everyone loves running. And some people like carbs and want to eat them. Some people have specific health issues that shape their nutritional choices. I believe it’s all good.
About Me (Personally)
I live in sunny Scotland with my hubby, Luke, and have been here for over FOUR years. I can’t believe it. Time flies on the flipside.
I miss America and try to visit as much as possible and in many ways uprooting myself and moving to another country at 34 was a lot like being 15 again.
Moving to a new country has been all over the place for me. Before I got married and moved to the UK, I had struggled with finding myself — I know that is like the most nauseating expression — but it is true.
I had changed careers — a couple of times before moving.
I also discovered soon after leaving America that I hadn’t properly grieved the death of my father and that was a challenge. (I wrote an article about my experience with ‘delayed grief’ for Huffington Post.)
I also chose to quit drinking in 2018 and so now I am what the Brits call a ‘teetotaler’.
I have learned a lot about myself and others through this experience and so I’m gonna write about the benefits of a booze-free life, but will try not to get ‘too preachy’ about my choice.
In all seriousness, though, I have learned a lot in the past year from removing alcohol from my life.
I’m sure this ‘about me’ section will change over time, but for now, this is who I am. Hopefully, this blog will evolve with me. The only predictable thing bout life is that it’s anything but predictable.
